Sounds like Dan is in peak cycle, it will get better, but it is the hardest time. The in between pain we call shadows and this can be bad. Sometimes O2 will help this and then it won't. Some suggestions for this is cafeine or after some research I found some use 4 way nasal spray or 12 hour combined with Excederin migraine or extra strength. Caution with the Excederin as too much of it can cause rebound attacks.

For nightime problems many use over the counter Melatonin, usually on the vitamin shelf. It is a sleep aid and does help many get through the night. Be sure to get at least the 3mg dose and many of us take from 3mg to 12mg. It also takes a few days to be fully effective but will help from day one. Be aware, it also comes in mcg (microgram) form and that's not what you want.

It is difficult at first to learn the ropes but in time you will have it down. Tell Dan I'd really like to talk to him but I understand if he's not ready.

Jen and Jen - thanks for your thoughts about the meds and well wishes for Dan. I'm printing out your posts.

Don, I was jus getting on here to ask for specific info about the O2 and the in between (shadows). Your post just answered my questions, wow, you're good. I'm printing your post for Dan and will encourage him to call when he's ready. Thanks so much.

It was a rough night last night. It's amazing how encouraged I feel this morning.

I know how rough the nights can be Hot Rod. That's when Phil has the hardest time. I know how exhausted Dan must be and you as well.

It's amazing how some words typed on a screen can really offer the encouragment you need and it's comforting to know your not alone in this fight, isn't it?
